The Velvet & Hound Experience

Every portrait begins with a conversation

Before we even think about cameras, I'd like to get to know both you and your dog.
We'll chat about their personality, favourite treats, quirks, and anything you'd like me to know. Some dogs love meeting new people, while others need a little more time—and that's absolutely fine.
I'll then visit your home before the portrait session to meet your dog, see where we'll be photographing, and discuss any special requirements. Every session is planned around your dog, not the other way around.

A studio without the stress

Rather than asking your dog to travel to an unfamiliar studio, I bring the studio to them.
Working in the comfort of their own home means most dogs are far more relaxed, confident and able to be themselves. Before any photographs are taken, I'll spend time getting to know them (with the help of plenty of tasty treats, of course!), allowing them to become comfortable with both me and the equipment.
There's never any rush. The best portraits happen when a dog feels safe, curious and relaxed.

Creating something truly personal

Every dog is different, so every portrait session unfolds a little differently.
Some dogs are playful and energetic, while others are calm, thoughtful or wonderfully stubborn. Rather than forcing poses, I work patiently with your dog's personality to create portraits that feel authentic and timeless.
My goal is simple: to capture the character that you recognise every day.

Choosing your favourites

After the session, I'll carefully curate the strongest images into a private viewing gallery.
Together we'll look through the collection at a relaxed viewing appointment, where you can take your time choosing the portraits that speak to you most. There are no high-pressure sales tactics or time limits—just honest guidance if you'd like help deciding.
You can choose beautifully finished digital images, museum-quality fine art prints, or a combination of both.

Crafted to last

Every print is produced using archival giclée printing on heavyweight fine art paper, chosen for its exceptional detail, rich tonal range and velvet texture.
These aren't simply photographs to keep on a phone or hard drive—they're pieces of artwork designed to be displayed, enjoyed and treasured for years to come.
